Words, characters or hours?
|
It is not uncommon for me to be asked how much a
translation costs. The answer is complicated, as there are many ways to
calculate rates and plenty of factors to be taken into consideration as
well. |
First of all, a translator is a service provider, so he/she will charge for the
amount of time and/or effort such service demands. There are two main ways to
measure this amount: 1) by counting characters, words, sentences or pages in a
document; 2) by estimating the time needed to complete a job. For practical
reasons, the word count is usually chosen for translations. However, charging by
the hour is usual in revisions.

Ok, but how much do I charge per word or per hour?
It will depend on a
series of factors such as subject, language pair, file format, and type of
service. To
know how
much your translation will cost, contact me and
I will
provide a quote as soon as possible.
